EDIT: SORRY I DIDN”T REALIZE HOW OLD THIS THREAD WAS.

It actually really bothers me that corporations abuse online applicants in this way. Since they can automate their application systems to weed out the people they don’t want and don’t have to manually read every application they make them super long now. Its ridiculous. I don’t want to spend four hours applying for a minimum wage job.

I know, i know, “show some initiative” and im sure to the corporation its more than “just a minimum wage job” but to me… its a minimum wage job that i don’t want to be doing a year from now and weather or not your manager admits it… they know its true to.

I remember doing online application that were like hundreds of questions and turned in to miniature psychological eval’s. Which means that i pretty much have to lie to get a job because if potential employers knew I was horribly depressed, paranoid, and crippled by social anxiety… well id never get a job. (ok a bit of an exaggeration, im really just not a people person.) But the point is most people lie anyway because the answers are easy to figure out and a lot of people probably wouldn’t get a job if they didn’t pretend like they were the model of mental/emotional stability.

Another pet peeve… Entry level, minimum wage jobs that expect you to list a long page of qualifications, work history, and/or work references. For half the people that apply this will probably be nothing but BS because theirs a good chance this is their first or second job.

Anyway, I understand why they do it… good workers are hard to come by. People come and go all the time at my work place.
